Yang Yue received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering and optics from Nankai University, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, USA, in 2012. He is a Professor with the School of Information and Communications Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. Dr. Yue’s current research interest is intelligent photonics, including optical communications, optical perception, and optical chip. He has published ~300 journal papers (including Science) and conference proceedings with >12,000 citations, one book, seven edited books, two book chapters, >60 issued or pending patents, >200 invited presentations (including 1 tutorial, >30 plenary and >80 keynote talks). Dr. Yue is a Fellow of SPIE, a Senior Member of IEEE and Optica. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and Frontiers in Physics, Editor Board Member for four other scientific journals, Guest Editor for >10 journal special issues. He also served as Chair or Committee Member for >100 international conferences, Reviewer for >70 prestigious journals.

Valentina E. Balas is currently Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, Romania. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications from Polytechnic University of Timisoara. Dr. Balas is author of more than 350 research papers. Her research interests are in Intelligent Systems, Fuzzy Control, Soft Computing. She is the Editor-in Chief to IJAIP and to IJCSysE, and is evaluator expert for national, international projects. Dr. Balas is the director of Intelligent Systems Research Centre in Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad and Director of the Department of International Relations. She served as General Chair of SOFA conferences in nine editions organized in the interval 2005-2020 and held in Romania and Hungary. She is a member of EUSFLAT, member of SIAM and a Senior Member IEEE, member in TC Fuzzy Systems (IEEE CIS), chair of the Task Force 14 in TC Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS), member in TC Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS).

Assoc. Prof. David (Minghui) Li

Dr David (Minghui) Li, is an Associate Professor in Electronic Systems at University of Glasgow, based in Singapore (UGS). Before joining Glasgow Uni, he has been working as a Lecturer in the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom. He has investigated a range of industrial, UK EPSRC, knowledge exchange, and university strategic research projects as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator, through collaboration and partnership with industrial companies and R&D organisations like Rolls Royce, Shell, E.ON, Serco, and National Nuclear Laboratory from key sectors of Energy, Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Nuclear, Transportation and Healthcare in the UK. Dr Li’s research portfolio has primarily focused on sensing systems, signal processing and imaging in both fundamental algorithm research and applied prototype system development, covering a diversity of applications in communications, radar, sonar, non-destructive evaluation (NDE), and biomedical diagnosis and imaging.
